Former Olympic 1500m champion Asbel Kiprop is the latest casualty of the doping menace that has continued to affect Kenyan athletes.

The 3 times world champion has vowed to do his best to prove he is clean. This is after reports from international media indicated that Kiprop had tested positive for banned blood boosting agent EPO.

Reports from international media, indicate that the 28 years old former world and Olympic champion reportedly tested positive for a banned blood boosting agent EPO in an out of competition drug testing 2017.

The athletics integrity unit, which is responsible for processing all doping tests in track and field events has however not confirmed the results.

Kiprop who was involved in a serious car accident in 2013 believes that there is an error with his sample and he is ready to fight to prove he is clean.

Kiprop shot to prominence in 2008 at the age of 19 when he finished second in the Olympic 1500m final in Beijing behind Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain. His silver medal was upgraded to gold when the Bahraini runner tested positive for CERA.

Kiprop is managed by Italian agent Federico Rosa, who managed 3-times Boston marathon champion Rita Jeptoo and Olympic marathon champion Jemima sum gong, who have since been suspended for testing positive.
