Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has officially assumed the office of the Deputy Party Leader at the United Democratic Movement (UDA) party, swiftly replacing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The changes at UDA’s second top command post were triggered by Gachagua’s removal from office by impeachment last month.
UDA Constitution designates the president as the Party Leader while the Deputy President is the Deputy Party Leader.
“I am humbled to assume the position of the Deputy Party Leader of the UDA, a party that I have worked hard for. I want us to focus on recruitment of more members and the grassroots elections to maintain our popularity,” said Prof. Kindiki while taking office.
Taking to his social media account the DP said he will consult and promote the ideals of the party as he supports the president in running the outfit.
“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) stands for the unity, oneness, and indivisibility of our Country. I will be true and loyal to the ideals of our party, and assist the Party Leader, President William Ruto in the implementation of the party manifesto anchored on five key pillars; Agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Economy, Housing and Settlement, Healthcare and the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy,” Prof. Kindiki wrote on X.
“I was, and I am still the chief agent for the UDA party. I have not yet handed over the Chief Agent mantle for this party that made me Interior Cabinet Secretary,” he added.
UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire and Secretary General Hassan Omar, along with members of the National Executive Committee, witnessed the transition of leadership at the party headquarters, Hustler Plaza.
