Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday airlifted a seven-year-old boy from Longisa in Bomet East Constituency for specialised treatment in Nairobi.
The move followed Dr Ruto’s visit on Saturday in Bomet County where he came across Ian Kipkoech who is allegedly suffering from Spina bifida. According to the mother Yvonne Chelang’at, her son was born normally but with a small scar on his back at the Kijabe Mission Hospital in 2012.
“But later, after several treatments, doctors advised me that my son had a birth defect in which his spinal cord had failed to develop properly,” said Ms Chelang’at, a single mother of one.
Over the weekend, Ian, a pre-unit student at Olengisha Bright Star Academy, recited a poem to the Deputy President when he visited the region. Ian’s medical condition caught the attention of the Deputy President which prompted him to airlift him to Nairobi for treatment.”
