The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, OGW has assured the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly his office’s steadfast commitment to addressing corruption and other criminal offences across the country.
Speaking during a meeting with the committee, the DPP underscored the critical role of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in promoting justice and upholding the rule of law.
He highlighted the ODPP’s ongoing efforts to expedite the prosecution of high-profile corruption cases and ensure justice for all Kenyans.
“We remain resolute in our mission to tackle corruption and criminal offences that undermine the socio-economic fabric of our nation,” the DPP stated.
However, the DPP raised concerns regarding the financial challenges facing his office, which he indicated were hindering the effective execution of its mandate.
He appealed to the committee for an increased budget allocation, noting that additional resources were essential to enhance operational capacity, including recruitment, training, and comprehensive digitization of prosecutorial services.
“The ODPP requires adequate funding to strengthen its operations, enhance case management systems, and improve coordination with other stakeholders in the criminal justice system,” he added.
The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee pledged to consider the DPP’s request, acknowledging the vital role of the ODPP in criminal justice and fostering accountability in public service
