In a move towards bolstering the fight against corruption, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdi A. Mohamud on 21st January 2025 hosted H.E. Neil Wigan, the British High Commissioner to Kenya, at the Commission’s headquarters.
The courtesy call underscored the enduring collaboration between Kenya and the United Kingdom in tackling corruption and emerging trans-border crimes.
“The two leaders discussed various strategies for deepening the existing collaboration between Kenya and the UK in the fight against corruption, acknowledging the emerging challenges posed by trans-border crime,” stated EACC.
The discussions centred on enhancing strategic partnerships, with a focus on capacity development for EACC personnel and intelligence sharing.
CEO Mohamud expressed his gratitude for the continued technical support provided by the UK Government, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing Kenya’s anti-corruption agenda.
British High Commissioner Neil Wigan reaffirmed the UK’s unwavering support for Kenya’s anti-corruption reforms.
He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in imposing sanctions on individuals involved in misappropriating public funds, thereby enhancing accountability and justice.
However, the renewed collaboration marks a vital milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat corruption, promising to enhance the operational capabilities of the EACC and strengthen Kenya’s institutional frameworks for transparency and accountability.
The partnership indicates a shared commitment to a corruption-free future, setting a precedent for international cooperation in addressing global challenges.
