Easy Coach has issued a statement confirming the fatal accident that claimed the life of a student from Chavakali High School.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm a fatal accident involving our Mbale-Nairobi bus that occurred in Mamboleo -Kisumu, on April 1st, 2024, around 10 pm. One passenger tragically lost their life in this accident, “confirmed Easy Coach’s management.
The students were traveling to Nairobi following the closure of schools for the first term. According to Nyanza Regional Traffic Commander, Allan Mwangi, the driver seemed to have been negotiating the Coptic roundabout when he lost control of the bus hit the guard rail, and landed on the edge of the road.
He was however not found at the scene of the incident. Two students suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu, while 32 others are currently receiving treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu.
Easy Coach extended their heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased student. “One passenger tragically lost their life in this accident. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
“Three additional passengers were admitted to the hospital but are currently in stable condition. We wish them a full and speedy recovery. Other passengers received medical attention and have since been discharged,” Easy Coach further added.
