Education CS Ogamba Releases 2024 KCSE Results

Education Cabinet Secretary Hon.Julius Migos Ogamba has today released the results for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

Speaking at Mtihani House on Thursday, January 9th,2025, CS Ogamba announced that 962,512 candidates sat for the 2024 KCSE where  an increase of the candidates was reported compared with 898,453 candidates who sat for the same exam in 2023.

The CS alo emphasized that all student who sat for KSCE in 2024 have been cleared to join various institutions of higher learning to pursue careers of their choice.

“Today we are releasing the 2024 KCSE results for the 962,512 candidates, all of whom we have cleared to join various higher learning institutions to pursue careers of their choice,” stated CS Ogamba.

In a landmark development in Kenya’s education sector, the 2024 KCSE examination , the number of female candidates surpassed male candidates woth 482,202 and 480,310 respectively.

“This is the first time that female candidates are more than male candidates since the inception of KCSE examination,” noted CS Ogamba.

However, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) nullified the results of 840 candidates due to their involvement in examination malpractice. Additionally, the results of 2,899 candidates have been withheld, with investigations expected to conclude within 30 days.

The CS revealed that 1,693 candidates achieve grade A compared to 1,216 in 2023 marking a significant improvement.A total of 246,391 candidates attained grade C+ and above which  qualifies them direct entry to university.

The distribution of grades  also included 476,889 candidates achieving grade C- and 605,774 candidates achieving grade D+.

The ministry of education reaaffirmed its commitment to addressing the disparities and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to excel.
