It was an emotional send off of a10 year old girl who was defiled by a close relative in Torr, Barwesa Ward Baringo County. The girl who had been hospitalized at Baringo county hospital before being refereed to Moi teaching in Eldoret sustained severe injuries in her private parts which affected internal organs including the womb,kidneys owing to 3 years of defilement since she was 7 years old without anyone noticing. Mitchelle Jematia who was born in march 2011 Konoo location of Barwesa ward was buried today as locals called for justice for the heinous act on the minor. She was staying with the suspect where it provided a haven of him defiling her repeatedly before the girl escaped to the bushes where the case was reported to the police. Mourners in attendance could not hold back their tears as body of the late Jematia was laid to rest with parents calling upon the government to protect their children.
Mary Sang, the Director of Sunrise Children home a home for the abandoned,defiled and neglected children said rising cases of defilement in Baringo urging for stiffer penalties for those who defile children. Cases of defilement in the county of Baringo have been on the rise with many cases going unnoticed as families resort to solve the matter at Kangaroo courts. The suspect, Aaron Cherono was arrested last week after being on the run for three months. He was arraigned in court last week Monday. His wife is also accused of not reporting the defilement on time.
