First group of DRC players check in ahead of Sunday clash

The first group of DR Congo national team players and officials touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday 20 March ahead of the team’s faceoff with Kenya’s Harambee Stars scheduled for Sunday.

The first contingent of 13, consisting of players and officials includes five Europe based players and as confirmed by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will be hosted at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies.

The team will have its first training session on Kenyan soil on Tuesday 21 March at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) starting 5pm.

The itinerary of the rest of the squad coming for the game has not yet been released but it is expected the full squad will be in by latest Thursday 23rd March.

The two teams faced off earlier in 2016, with Kenya beating their hosts DR Congo 1 – 0 in Lubumbashi courtesy of Michael Olunga’s goal in the second half of the game.

The Match will be hosted at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, following the closure of the Nyayo National Stadium and Safaricom Stadium Kasarani for renovations.
