On Tuesday, Mama Rachel Ruto, the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, visited families impacted by floods in Athi River, Mavoko Constituency.
She provided donations of foodstuffs and personal items at Athi River Primary School.
Expressing empathy for families who have suffered losses, the First Lady also commended the collaborative efforts aiding over 15,000 affected Kenyans across Machakos County.
As part of the national strategy to enhance food security in households, Mama Rachel Ruto pledged to collaborate with local leaders to economically empower women and support them in cultivating food for their families.

She reassured the public of the Government’s dedication to assisting all Kenyans affected by the extensive rainfall and flooding in various parts of the country.
Accompanying the First Lady were H.E. Wavinya Ndeti, Governor of Machakos County, and Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau, alongside other leaders.
He pledged the government’s support in the burial arrangements of the deceased as well as catering for hospital bills for those hospitalized following the unfortunate incident.
He noted that the National Youth Service (NYS) and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will collaborate in the search for missing persons in the area.
