FORMAL DISSOLUTION OF THE NATIONAL SUPER ALLIANACE (NASA) A STATEMENT BY ANC, WIPER AND FORD-KENYA PARTIES .

1. The NASA Dream
The National Super Alliance (NASA) was a response to the Kenyan people’s genuine desire for a nationwide, all-inclusive movement for real change. It brought together the progressive forces in our country who believed in and were prepared to defend and implement the Constitution of Kenya 2010. The cardinal principles on which it was anchored of the rule of law, national unity and reconciliation, devolution of power, good governance, equity and social justice remain critical issues in our country. However, NASA did not achieve its dream of forming a government for reasons that are in the public domain.
2. The Trust-Deficit
A series of events after NASA’s the non-participation in the repeat 2017 presidential elections, revealed overtime that change was untenable under the NASA umbrella. Political party coalitions are built on trust. Once that trust is eroded, the partnership cannot survive.
Mindful of this trust deficit, our three parties, transparently informed the Kenyan people of their individual decision to leave the NASA Coalition. Relevant instruments giving effect to the decision have been processed by each party in accordance with their respective party constitutions. Today, each party has officially notified the Registrar of Political Parties of their decision to leave NASA. Copies of the notices to the Registrar are available. In essence, NASA stands legally dissolved as of the agreement which states that upon withdrawal of three parties, the union stands dissolved.
3. Orderly winding up
We restate that the Coalition has to be brought to an end in a formal and orderly manner. Let the organic trust deficit that was the modus operandi and bedeviled NASA not encumber the process of dissolution and accountability.
