FORMER TJRC boss Ambassador Bethwel Kiplagat, 81 dies at the Nairobi Hospital

Just two days after loss of key political figures, some in current and others in other regime, Kenya mourns yet another renowned person.

The former chairman of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC), Ambassador Bethuel Kiplagat died today Friday, July 14, 2017.

The 81 met his death while undergoing medication at Nairobi Hospital at 3am where he had been admitted following a long illness.

Career

The late served under Moi’s regime for over a decade.

Kiplagat was Kenya’s to United Kingdom Ambassador (1981-1983) and Kenya’s envoy to France in (1978-1981) before getting appointed as the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1988-1992 he mediated conflicting parties in Ethiopia, he was part of the taskforce that facilitated the transition of a conflicted Sudan.
