In efforts to eliminate the threat posed by the notorious Panga Boys gang, officers from Mjambere Police Station in Kisauni Sub-County have successfully arrested four gang members, notorious for terrorizing the residents of Mombasa and its surrounding areas.

The arrests followed a swift response to a reported attack on two individuals en route to Kongowea market. Acting promptly, police officers on foot patrol traced the three suspects to the Kadongo area.

“Acting swiftly, police officers on foot patrol traced the suspects Ali Yusuf, 24, Said Hamisi, 23, and two 19-year-olds, Ali Swalleh and Siajabu Bakari to Kadongo area,” stated the DCI.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), upon confrontation, the suspects resisted arrest, engaging the officers in a violent altercation, forcing the officers to return fire, resulting in Ali Yusuf sustaining an injury to his left foot.

“Upon encountering the officers, the suspects were ordered to surrender. Instead, the gang members resisted, violently launching an assault on the officers. In response, the officers returned fire, injuring Ali Yusuf in his left foot,” explained the DCI.

The injured suspect was immediately transported to the Coast Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical attention, while the others were taken into custody at Mjambere Police Station.

During the arrest, the officers seized weapons, including pangas and a knife, which were secured as exhibits.

Additionally, the three uninjured suspects are currently undergoing processing pending arraignment.
