Francis ole Kaparo ,the National Cohesion and Integration Commission chairman yesterday said young people should focus on constructive activities that improve their lives. “Politics will not put food in your table, cloth you and put a roof over your head. Why do you have to go and die?” he said.
Kaparo spoke in Kibra subcounty, Nairobi, during a youth forum. He said politics “has been there, will be there and there is no need for youth to get involve in it”. “People get jobs and marry outside their homes. We must be a society that can communicate without killing,” Kaparo said. He said Kibra has many tribes that must co-exist peacefully if any meaningful development is to be realised. The NCIC chairman praised Kibra MP Ken Okoth, whom he said preaches peaceful co-existence, urging other leaders to emulate him.
“When you throw stones and bullets, you kill and hurt each other, but when you use dialogue, nobody comes to any harm,” he said. His warnings come at a time when youth from Kibra and Mathare have heeded calls by politicians to demonstrate against the IEBC commissioners.
Opposition chiefs wants IEBC commissioners kicked out, accusing them of siding with the government.
