Embu residents have been advised to carry out personal cancer screening and where possible show up at health facilities for the screening.
Speaking during cancer awareness and free screening at Tenri hospital in Embu, Cancer experts from Kenyatta National hospital observed that early screening was the first step towards curing cancer.
They noted that many Kenyans do not show up for screening and this makes cancer detection at stage three and four when it is too late manage.
The experts also advised residents to report any changes in their bodies that may be a symptom of some form of cancer and taught by the experts.
Leaders who attended the one day partnership between Tenri group of hospitals in Embu and doctors from KNH appealed to the government to undertake a public private partnership with private hospitals to ensure that poor people in the counties have access to quality health care and at affordable prices.
