The family of Agnes Moraa (68) is furious over the slow pace of investigations by area detectives to unearth her killers. Moraa’s family and their lawyer,Dunstan Omari,accused Kenyenya polices station based detectives of being bent on covering up the murder. Expressing dissatisfaction over the detectives’ alleged conduct in the case,the family petitioned the Homicide Unit of the DCI from the headquarters to take over the investigations. Omari took exception of the non securing of the murder scene and frustration the family was subjected to whenever they went to inquire about the progress of the case at the station. Two weeks after the killing the investigations had not taken –off, he claimed. Moraa’s burial was yet to be conducted.
The deceased, a widow who was a deaconess with Seventh Day Adventist(SDA) church was attacked and strangled at night by unknown assailants and her body found dumped in the kitchen. The killers had unsuccessfully attempted to access her MPESA account as text messages on her phone retrieved from the scene indicated. She lived alone and had a protracted land dispute with a neighbor leading to invasion and damage to her crops in some occasions. According to the family,the parents had bought land at Igorera village in Bomachoge Borabu sub county and relocated before the father died 20 years later.
