Leaders from Garissa County have vowed to reject the Punguza Mzigo initiative and pledged to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) instead. Speaking in Sankuri town during a developmental tour, Garissa Governor Ali Korane said they have gone through the punguza mzigo proposals and found out that much of it does not address the real issues affecting Garissa county people.
Korane added that they were eagerly waiting for the recommendations from the BBI since it focuses on the big four agenda which they are also aligned to. The governor was in the company of Balambala MP Omar Shurie who urged the national government to inject more resources towards mitigating drought in the county.
