The President is set to have an engagement with Gen Z on the X platform this Friday, 5th July 2024 following two weeks of anti-government protests that saw disruptions in major towns across the Country.

The announcement is made on the X platform via a poster that was posted by the State House Spokesperson Mr. Hussein Mohammed.

The poster that is circulating on all social media platforms states that the engagement is to be conducted on X, and will be conducted for three hours starting from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The President made this promise last week on different occasions including in the roundtable interview at State House last Sunday promising that he will engage the young people to address their concerns.

“In the next one week, we must have this conversation in the space where you want. I am sending you guys, one of you to set up the space this week, maybe Thursday or Friday, I will be there,” Dr. Ruto said.

“mkipangana mimi niko.”

The head of state also last week suggested a multi-sectoral approach and said that all he wanted was a whole set to be about the young people in civil society, religious organizations and professional bodies.

However, several Gen Z’s on social media platforms have been seen discussing boycotting the engagement saying that their issues and demands are well known to the President and he should now act.

In a press briefing by the Muslim leaders led by the SUPKEM officials condemned the X engagement of the President with Gen Zs saying that it is unnecessary since the demands of the young people are already known during the last two weeks protest.

The leaders said that the President should now act since Gen Z’s recommendations are on the public well known to everyone including himself.
