Police officers based at Githurai Police Post have arrested Kelvin Chomba alongside two police officers, Fredrick Githinji Waithera and Edward Chege Mwangi, for their involvement in an attempted robbery with violence incident that unfolded along the Githurai-Soweto railway line.

On the night of February 17, 2025, while conducting routine patrol duties, the officers stumbled upon a disturbing scene.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations the three had pinned a member of the public to the ground attempting to rob him of his valuables.

“Acting swiftly and decisively, the officers intervened, arresting the trio and escorting them to Githurai Police Post where they are undergoing processing to be arraigned,” said the DCI.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has issued a strong admonition to both the public and law enforcement personnel, cautioning them against engaging in any form of collaboration in criminal activities, as such actions will be addressed with the utmost severity of the law.

The DCI anti-narcotics officers stationed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport also intercepted a shipment of suspected amphetamines intended for Australia, originating from Bujumbura, Burundi.

The illicit substance was cleverly hidden within ten large candles contained in a carton.

This discovery occurred during a verification process at the DHL Cargo Shed in the cargo area, where tests conducted on the whitish crystalline material, which was wrapped in yellow cellotape and concealed in the carton, confirmed it to be the highly addictive drug.

The shipment was seized and further investigations are underway to track down the traffickers.
