Gladys Wanga gets ODM ticket for re-election as Homa Bay woman MP

Gladys Wanga has been given the ODM ticket to defend her Homa Bay women representative seat on August 8. Wanga did not face any opposition for the ticket she was issued with on Monday.

Wanga, who was once ranked a top-performing woman legislator, stands the chance of sailing through given ODM’s dominance in the region. But stiff competition is expected in the races for governor, senator, MPs and ward representatives. The primaries will be held on April 19.

Governor Cyprian Awiti will face Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga, Sam Wakiaga, Enosh Bolo and Cosmas Kanyadudi for the ODM ticket. Senator Moses Kajwang’ will fight it out with Fred Rabongo while MPs elected on ODM tickets will square it out with the many aspirants seeking to take over from them. Wanga said she will make her choices of candidates after the primaries.

“Being the branch chairperson, I am like a mother to all the aspiring candidates but will work with whoever will be nominated by party supporters,” she said.
