Government Commends Doctors for Calling Off Strike

The Kenya Kwanza Administration has reaffirmed its commitment to the health and well-being of every Kenyan. Speaking during the signing ceremony of the agreement between the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union (KMPDU),Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki welcomed the decision by the KMPDU to call off the intended strike.

“ We welcome the selfless decision of the doctors to call off the intended industrial action and their willingness to continue engagement with the National and County Governments in the spirit of collaboration, consensus building and good faith,” stated DP Prof. Kindiki.

The agreement focuses on improving working conditions for doctors, addressing remuneration concerns, and ensuring the availability of essential resources across the healthcare system.

It also lays the foundation for continued dialogue between the government and healthcare professionals to address emerging challenges and enhance service delivery.

The agreement signals a significant step forward in addressing critical issues affecting healthcare delivery and promoting harmony in the health sector.

The government remains steadfast in its pursuit of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), ensuring that every Kenyan has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare.

The signing ceremony, held at the Deputy President’s Official Residence in Karen, Nairobi, was witnessed by key stakeholders, including representatives from KMPDU, the Ministry of Health, and the Council of Governors (CoG).
