It is a relief for miraa famers in the country after the task force  formed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to give recommendations on the miraa sector presented its report.

To this effect, the President has directed the government to release sh1.2 billion to implement the recommendations.

Besides the Sh1.2 billion being released for implementing the recommendations, the government has also allocated another 1 billion in the budget that was presented last week.

Key among the immediate recommendations of the miraa task force is providing seed capital for farmers, setting up of saccos ,registration of miraa farmers  and setting up of a scientific study at KEMRI aimed at getting restrictions  lifted on the crop in parts of Europe.
