The government is set to put up 500, 000 low cost affordable housing in a bid to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta Big Four Agenda under the housing pact, Public Works PS Paul Maringa has revealed.
Addressing journalist during third Medium Term Plan (MTP III) 2018-2022 held at Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology in Nyandarua County the PS said that move shall be met by budgetary allocation, partnerships with financial institution, private developers, cooperatives and manufactures of building materials.
He said that Kenyans will not only enjoy accessible and affordable healthcare and food, but also affordable and decent homes.
The PS said that they have already broken grounds in parklands where they are targeting 1,500 house adding that they shall also construct an extra 2,000 houses in Nyandarua.
Prof Maringa said that they were also working with the county government to end double allocation of funds by the National government and county government.
The PS urged the county government to be checking the MTP III before allocating money to project to seize double allocation.
