Government urged to partner with private sector in marginalized areas

Religious leaders and other stakeholders in Embu have called on the National and County government partner with private partners to revive the economy and improve services especially in the health dockets.

The leaders opined that, working with the private sector will enhance public private partnerships in offering quality and affordable health services in remote areas like Mbeere.

They were speaking during the official dedication of Imara hospital in Mbeere, Embu County where three young medical practitioners have set up the health facility at a cost of more than sh 300 million.

Canon Mwaniki Gichangi from ACK Embu appealed to the government to work with the private sector to ensure that vulnerable residents have access to medical services at affordable rates.

Dr. Eric Musau a medical doctor and the managing director at Imara hospital said the hospitals aim was to partner with third party agents to ensure that patients in marginalized areas received quality services at affordable prices.

He also encouraged other investors to relocate to remote areas of Mbeere where residents do not have access to critical services

Dr Musau dismissed claims that private hospitals were costly adding that the government should work with all stakeholders at leverage costs across board.

Imara hospital was started in 2016 by three middle aged doctors who noticed a big gap in health services.

Dr Musau noted that malnutrition in children was a challenge in semi-arid areas of Mbeere where the hospital is located adding that they will put more emphasis on maternal care and pediatrics.
