Nakuru governor Susan Kihika has assured investors, the business community, visitors and residents that her government would make the county the most preferred area for investment and tourism.
Speaking today, while touring the affordable housing project at Bondeni estate, Ms Kihika said the City will be de congested as a matter of urgency, and various bus termini constructed to ensure that the central business area is attractive to investors.
She said her government would augment the national government’s affordable housing programme by constructing more affordable houses in informal settlement areas, such as Kimathi, and Kivumbini estates.
Additionally, she said economic zone areas within the county would be constructed to attract investors and create employment for the 1.2 million residents, according to the 2019 census report.
The governor affirmed her strengthening of partnerships between the county and the national government for increased prosperity of the residents.
She emphasized that her campaigning manifesto of improving the residents’ lives for the better, would be actualized and realized within the shortest period possible.
The 602 affordable houses at the Bondeni informal settlement area have transformed the estate, due to the creation of numerous construction job opportunities for the youths in the area.
The developer of the affordable housing project Mohammed Hassanali said they have already sold 80 per cent of the units with the most popular being three followed by two bedrooms, selling at 4.3-4 million respectively.
However, he noted that the one-bedroom units were not as popular, despite being the cheapest-at Sh 1.5 million.
He assured the buyers of sufficient solar street lights, and security, including fully tarmacked roads.
