GOVERNOR MUTUA LAUNCHES COVID-19 VACCINATION IN MACHAKOS

Machakos Governor, Dr Alfred Mutua, today witnessed the start of the Covid-19 vaccination of health workers in Machakos county.

The health workers, including Community Health Volunteers and staff working in health facilities received first priority in the ongoing vaccination program.

Dr Mutua in Machakos said each of the vaccinated people will receive an official Machakos County Government Covid-19 Vaccination record card. The card’s details will correspond with the National Government’s digital platform that is keeping record of all vaccinations.

The Machakos county boss said COVID-19 has killed millions causing heartbreaks and has come close to demolishing the economies of nations.

He said children and nearly everyone in Kenya have benefited from being immunized against many killer diseases such as Measles, Polio, Tetanus, Rotavirus and Hepatitis B among many others. The regiment for vaccines given to children is in excess of 10 in number.

He urged all citizens to embrace this vaccination breakthrough so as to end the pandemic. Dr Mutua said he was ready for himself and his family members to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

Today’s launch was to test the system and then roll out mass vaccination in Machakos Level 5, Level 4 and Level 3 health facilities from Wednesday of this week.

He said the county received 900 vials of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine which are enough to vaccinate 9,000 persons.
