Governor Obado’s bail hearing set for Friday

By Kelvin Wagura

Migori Governor Okoth Obado is set to be arraigned in court today for his bail hearing.

Today, he will know whether he will be free through the bail hearing and determination. Governor Obado has been remanded at Industrial area prison for the last three weeks.

On September 27, Justice Lesiit declined to release governor Obado on bail claiming the court was yet to see statements from witnesses which would perhaps lead to the right judgments out of existing evidence.

The prosecution believes that Governor Obado is responsible for the murder of Sharon Otieno. According to reports the state has lined up approximately 24 witnesses who are expected to testify in court today. Some of the witnesses are county employees and the police had not yet recorded their statements during the last hearing.

Should the court find out that there is nothing compelling to withhold the accused, governor Obado may be granted bond.
