GOVERNOR TUNAI FLAGS OFF 40 MILLION DRUGS AND WARNS THOSE GRABBING HOSPITAL LAND

Narok county governor Samuel Ole Tunai has  issued an Ultimatum to owners of businesses built in the over 5 acres’ land to vacate or bulldozers will be sent by county government to bring them down.

Mr Tunai was speaking during flagging off of a Ksh. 40 million drug consignment to the 205 hospitals, health centers and dispensaries in the 7 sub counties in the region at the Narok county referral Hospital saying his aim is to make sure Narok residents get good health services from Narok without moving to other counties to get medication.  He thanked the national government for employing  360 health workers through contractors saying the three years contract is about to come to an end and he is having discussions  with the government to make sure they extend this contract for the benefit of Narok residents.

Tunai said the phenomenon known as land grabbing, became part and parcel of official grand corruption through which land meant for public use (including land specifically reserved for public purposes) was acquired by individuals in the advent of devolution.

“Public land was allocated in total disregard of the public interest and in circumstances that fly in the face of the law, but I am calling on the owners of the premises and petrol stations to remove them since we will send bulldozers and demolish them if they will not hid our humble calls,” said Mr Tunai.

Mr Tunai said the Ksh. 527 million wing of its referral hospital is under way in a bid to meet a growing demand for health services in the county and in the whole of the South Rift region.
