Gov’t declares Dusk to Dawn curfew in Mandera County

The government Interior Cabinet secretary, Joseph Nkaisserry, has declared a public curfew for people living in Mandera county effective today, 27th October.

“This order may be cited as the Public Order (Curfew)) (Mandera County) Order, 2016, and shall come into effect on the 27th October, 2016 to 27th December, 2016 from 6.30 p.m to 6.30. am,” Said Nkeisserry said the Legal Notice No. 183.

The order, according to the Interior CS , will apply that area comprised of Mandera Town, Omar Jillo, Arabi, Finp, Lafey Kotulo, Elwak and the environs of the said locations.

The Public Order will also extend twenty (20) kilometers from Keya Somalia/Border.

For those who would like to operate during the curfew hours, the CS has directed them to acquire a written granted permit, for those residing in the mentioned regions, by the respective Deputy County Commissioner.

This comes after  an attack that occurred in Mandera leaving 12 people dead and others injured.
