The information about the grisly accident was received and widely spread as the hearts of several people skipped a beat; and began mourning the lost lives.
According to the survivor, two of students had completed their studies and they were all on their way to Kilgoris for all the white birthday party at a place called Magena.
Their car was overtaking when it collided with another car and a lorry causing the death of 8 people. The students are also said to have been tipsy before beginning their journey.
Sad news that shocked many when what was meant to be a night of partying ended tragically in a horrific road accident that claimed the lives of six students and two drivers.
Speaking after miraculous escape from the jaws of death, Mercy Nyambeki confirmed that upon arriving at Kisii they exchanged drivers although both had driving license and what she could remember afterwards were shouting and cries, then found herself in hospital bed.
The rising road accidents
Road accidents have been heavily reported in various roads and they have claimed lives of many people with several left with serious injuries.
Drivers have been heavily blamed for taking the wheels while drunk, and to cub this, various barriers have been rampantly staged to taste tipsiness of drivers using alcohol blow, and those who knew they were about to be caught made U-turns and run away from police.
Apart from drunk drivers, police have also blamed recklessness in driving with majority of drivers blamed for venturing into driving whether they bear no legal driving license.
The Kissi-Kilgoris accident is one among many accidents that have happened in Kenya with another grisly one where a lorry was involved in accident with nine-cars.
To our dear drivers, we request them to closely follow traffic rules, take caution when overtaking and drive smoothly as they help us cruise along the roads.
The pedestrian also need to stand firm on their rights and confront overspreading or misbehaving drivers to slow down and or drive safely. In addition, observing traffic rules when using the roads would be a key player in saving many lives.
