Lewis Hamilton won the Hungarian Grand Prix maintaining pole position in the formula one standing. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was three laps away from securing a consecutive title until a change of strategy from Mercedes Saw Hamilton overtake him at lap 6.
Verstappen, growing in confidence after winning in Germany, led the race for 67 laps for the better part of the race, Mercedes Hamilton and Valten Bottas battled for second place before the latter changed tactic.
Veteran Sebastian Vettel struggled to keep his head afloat after poor qualifying time. He nonetheless secured a podium finish half a minute behind the Red Bull man.
Hamilton’s performance was landed by many including Fernando Alonso who said Hamilton demonstrated, diligence, hard work and professionalism. Next is the Belgian Grand Prix. All eyes will be on Vettel who seeks to make a long-awaited comeback.
