Hassan Joho the Kingpin of Mombasa politics, TIFA polls

A poll by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) has unveiled Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho as the kingpin of Mombasa politics.

68% of 600 Mombasa residents interviewed chose Hassan Ali Joho as their recognized leader with Najib Balala & Suleiman Shahbal coming second with only 9% while  Hassan Omar of Wiper got 6% and Hezron Awiti receiving 2% popularity support.

Joho was further backed for Mombasa governor by 68% of Mombasa residents at a distance followed by Suleiman Shahbal who got 15% with Hassan Omar coming third with 7%.

NASA coalition emerged as the top popular party in Mombasa wity 66% while Jubilee comes second enjoying 23% of the total share while 10% of voters remain undecided.

However, 57% of the interviewed said that they are not sure whom they will vote for Senator. 13% of them proposed Omar Hassan Sarai followed closed by Abdusalaam Kaasim who is backed by 12%, while Mohammed Abbas and Tendai Mtana enjoy 7% and 6 % respectively.

Kiambu polls

TIFA also contacted polls at Kiambu County were several residents were interviewed.

Jubilee party emerged as the most popular party in Kiambu by 90% followed by NASA that enjoys 5% with Maendeleo Chap Chap and PNU taking home 1% while 3% remain undecided.

If elections were to be held today according to the polls, William Kabogo would beat Ferdinand Waititu by 46% to 33% while 16% remain undecided. According to the pools, Kabogo has gained popularity compared to 22% of August 2016 polls with Waititu losing popularity compared to 49%

The polls further show Kimani Wamatangi as preffered candidate for Kiambu Senator with 32% of voter’s undecided.
