Kitui and Makueni counties have received heavy rains overnight, rendering some roads impassible.
This left many people stranded after some rivers flooded with roads becoming impassable.
The rains come as a reprieve to farmers who are preparing to seek a solution to the ongoing hunger.
Farmers in different counties targets to maximize their production from the little April rains and preserve their production for future consumption.
The hunger due to insufficient previous harvests had caused prices of some consumables like maize floor to hit the ceiling.
The prices increased surprisingly from normal Ksh 90 for 2kg packet to Ksh 160, an increase of over 88% in price
Water shortage
Various regions, especially the Nairobi County, had been struck with serious water shortage while in other counties animals were perishing due to lack of pasture and water.
This forced the relative bodies to develop water rationing program so as to mantain the water levels.
The Nairobi Dam water level had dropped to 25% percent causing fears of serious water shortage within the county.
