A Judge of the High Court Hon. Justice Majanja died on Wednesday 10th July 2024. The Judiciary fraternity and the Judicial Service Commission are mourning the loss of their gallant officer.
Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome led the Judiciary in mourning the demise of the Hon. Justice David Majanja and condole with the family and the rest of Kenyans.
“On behalf of the Judiciary and the Judicial Service Commission, it is with profound sadness that I announce the sudden passing of Hon. Justice David Amilcar Shikomera Majanja, Judge of the High Court of Kenya and Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission,” Martha Koome wrote on X.
“We are all heartbroken,” mourned the CJ.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Judiciary and JSC fraternity during this time of deep sorrow and sadness,” the Supreme Court President condoled.
Justice Majanja will be remembered as a towering figure in the development of Judiciary transformative post-2010 jurisprudence and a crucial pillar in the institution-building of the Judicial Service Commission and the Judiciary.
Through the Chief Justice, the Judiciary has promised to stand in solidarity with the family and friends of the departed Judge during the difficult moments.
President William Ruto also passed message of condolences to the family and friends of Justice Majanja.
He also said that Majanja was a brilliant lawyer who did exemplary work in the field of law for the time he served this country.
“The Hon. Majanja was a brilliant lawyer who joined the Bench after an exemplary spell at the Bar. His integrity and ability inspired the confidence of his colleagues, while his powerful intellect made him a trusted juridical voice,” President Ruto said.
“It has been evident for long that although fairly experienced, Hon. Majanja was at the beginning of a long and illustrious career, and this fact makes his passing all the more tragic,” he added.
