How DCI Sleuths Recaptured Fugitive Murder Suspect Kevin Kinyanjui

Wanted Murder Suspect Kevin Kinyanjui Was re-arrested by the police yesterday evening at Parklands.

Kevin Kang’ethe Kinyanjui who escaped police custody on February 7th, 2024 was captured after an
intelligence-led operation within Ngong Township, Kajiado County.

The wanted fugitive escaped Muthaiga police station last week, where he was detained awaiting
extradition to the United States, to answer first-degree murder charges.

According to the police detectives, the 41-year-old was arraigned at the Milimani Magistrate Court today where 30 days custodial orders were granted to allow extradition processes to be completed.

Kevin is a murder suspect in violation of the laws of the United States, where he allegedly murdered his
31-year-old Kenyan-born girlfriend Margaret Mbitu, in Massachusetts on October 31, 2023.

The deceased body was discovered in a locked vehicle in a parking garage at Boston Logan International
Airport, with multiple stab wounds on her face and neck.

Margaret Mbitu who was working as a home healthcare aid in the town of Halifax, Massachusetts, and
Kevin Kang’ethe were believed to have been in a romantic relationship before the suspect turned
against her while on a trip to Lowell before fleeing to Kenya.

In response to a Diplomatic Note from the US Embassy seeking the provisional arrest of a Kenyan
fugitive, Kevin K’ang’ethe the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in collaboration with the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and the Office of the
Inspector General, facilitated the issuance of an arrest warrant for the fugitive.

Subsequently, they coordinated closely with US law enforcement to locate and apprehend the suspect through joint efforts.

The wanted fugitive was arrested by Kenyan detectives on Monday, 30th January 2024, where he was
found in a nightclub in Westlands, Nairobi Kenya.

After the court approved extradition orders and granted a 30-day custodial period for processing, the
