The President yesterday announced that Hustler Fund will be Sharia compliant.
Speaking at an Iftar Dinner which he hosted at State House on Monday, April 8, the Head of State noted that he received the request following complaints of several muslims lacking access to the fund due to the packaging of the financial product.
“Maybe because of how the financial product has been packaged, not many Muslims can participate. It is the first time I am receiving that request and I want to guarantee that I will process this request so that the hustler fund can have a sharia-compliant component so that all Kenyans can be able to participate.” Stated Ruto.
He assured that over seven million Kenyans are benefiting from the Hustler Fund which is barely 16 months old and also pledged to restructure other Government financial instruments to enhance financial inclusion.
He urged the Islamic leaders present at the dinner to submit a proposal on other government instruments that can be restructured to incorporate the sharia law.” I would request that you give me a proposal on other government instruments that can also be made available and compliant so that we process them.” Stated Ruto.
He further added that he would value receiving the proposal and emphasized the importance of co-existence and the need for everyone to benefit from products at the nation’s disposal. The head of state also challenged religious leaders to be at the forefront of praying for the country.
“We are on track to making Kenya a better country for all. It is our responsibility to make it greater,” he noted.
