The NARC-Kenya Party leader Hon. Martha Karua said that she would have rejected Cabinet nomination under the broad based government that was formed by President Ruto.

Karua said that she cannot work for President Ruto for he will not let anyone work. While speaking in a Television interview she accused him of being the Minister of everything.

Hon. Karua acknowledged to have worked with majority of the leaders in Parliament and she understands how they work and what they believe in.

She emphasized that she would have turned down any slot of the broad based government if approached for she termed President Ruto as a micro manager and the appointments are only done for formality.

“I wouldn’t work for William Ruto. Whatever changes and whatever quality of people he gets, he’s the minister for everything, he will not let anybody work. I have the experience of working with these people in Parliament,” Hon. Karua said.

The former Azimio la Umoja running mate in the 2022 Presidential race highlighted that working with ODM Party leader Raila Odinga is easier for what she termed a leader who can discuss important issues.

“I know at least Raila is easy to work with; you can differ, but you can sit across the table and discuss it. There is no way I would accept to work for William Ruto. And they didn’t ask me, let me not pose like I was asked. They also know my position,” she said.

NARC Party leader emphasized that the appointments of opposition leaders to Ruto’s Cabinet was a plot to lower the bar on accountability.

She acknowledged not to celebrate the ‘illegal marriage’ as she termed it, between government and the ODM party.

She further said that the ODM party leader can also explain his position on why he has agreed himself and the party to lower the bar on accountability against the Constitution he fought for.

“Raila is one person who worked hard to get the 2010 Constitution. We have worked together but there are times when we have not walked exactly the same path, it’s only he who can explain why at this time he will allow himself and his party to lower the bar on accountability,” she added.

According to Martha Karua, this led to NARC Party  pulling out of Azimio la Umoja Coalition noting that they cannot be in government and opposition at the same time.
