The Immigration Department on Thursday announced the resumption of normal operations in the issuance of passports after they had halted the process on Tuesday citing downtime.
“We are pleased to inform all our clients that we have resumed normal operations in the issuance of passports. We thank you for your patience and understanding during the period that we experienced a downtime,” noted the Directorate of Immigration Services.
The downtime came a few days after the government had revealed the acquisition of two additional passport printing machines, which would come in handy in clearing the 724,000 passport backlog and improve service delivery.
The Interior CS Kindiki had also assured Kenyans that starting from May 1, 2024, all passport applications will be processed within 21 days, commencing from the date of application.
