Interior CS flags off border patrol vehicles

The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Maj Gen Joseph Nkaissery test drives one of the cars before launching and flagging off border patrol vehicles.

The CS said the fleet will go a long way in monitoring border movement by the Department of Immigration to enhance security.

Many of explosives and arms are believed to have been smuggled across the border as the terrorists target to attack different Kenya areas.

Earlier, the government through the ministry of internal security had announced that it will begin erecting a nearly 435-mile-long wall along its northeastern border with Somalia to stem the flow of jihadists from the Somali terrorist group al-Shabaab.

“This wall will help us check on people like al-Shabaab from crossing to and from Somalia. We will not limit movement of other people. There is a need for joint cooperation between both countries and our leaders in dealing with terrorism, which has affected us negatively,” Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery told reporters in April.
