INVESTIGATIONS OVER FAKE MAIZE SEEDS LAUNCHED IN BOMET.

Following reports that maize farmers in Bomet County have been sold fake seeds by unscrupulous dealers, the Kenya Seed Company, KEPHIS and the county government of Bomet have launched investigations.
Bomet CECM in charge of agriculture Kipchumba Towett said farmers reported yellowing of maize and they are working with Kenya Seed on the matter.
Kenya Seed Quality Assurance manager Eric Tegei assured affected farmers of support to curb fake seeds by working together with anti-counterfeit authority.
He said farmers should be confirming if the seeds are genuine by scratching a code in the bags and sending for verification.
