It was a joyful moment for two children homes in Gatundu North, Kiambu County after a well-wisher donated ready made food to the tens of impoverished children.
Susan Kabura alias Susan Sam treated children from New Vision and Ushuhuda children homes with readymade chickens laced with Ugali alongside drinks to encourage them that despite the hardships they could be facing, there is hope for a better future.
The humanitarian came to the aid of the children homes that have been most hit hard by food shortages as the corona virus pandemic continues to affect lives.
Speaking after the donation, Kabura urged other well-wishers to follow suit saying that the kids urgently required their attention and care as most of them lack clothing, basic food items and good shelter.
She insisted the need for people to frequently visit the children not only for donations but also for other moral support and encouragement.
Kabura who has been visiting children homes across the country said her bid to see the children smile despite their social-economic challenges will continue.
While thanking the well-wisher for the good gesture, Ushuhuda children’s home guarding in charge Esther Nyambura revealed that most of the kids at the orphanage are HIV positive and have been grappling to get requisite ARVs for survival.
She said that the centre suffers a myriad of challenges as the children require attentive care which is sometimes hard to find due to financial constraints.
