Deputy president William Ruto has suffered another blow after two Parliamentary Aspirants defected from his United democratic party (UDA) to Raila Odinga Azimio La Umoja Movement
Among the defectors is the Maji Moto MCA Mr Mr Stephen Ole Kudate who has gone against his wife Soipan Kudate two days after the wife stepped down from the Narok gubernatorial race in favor of Patric Ole Ntutu(former CAS for labor).
Kudate was to face Mr korei ole Lemein who is giving a third jab to the parliamentary position and Mr Tipapa Kirokorr was to face arok west MP Gabriel Tongoyo.
It Were received by Narok North Member of parliament Moitalel Ole Kenta, and Jubilee deputy party leader former Kajiado senator Peter Mositet.
On Monday, Mr Kudate and his Siana ward counterpart Tipapa Kirokorr alias ‘Sonko’ cited betrayal and lack of democracy in the deputy president William Ruto led party.
“I have defected today to Azimio because of the call by my electorate back in Naroosura ward, after what happened in Karen a few days ago, where our competitors were issued direct tickets,” said Mr Kudate.
He also said he hid an advice by the Maasai council of elders for him to defect to the movement to make sure they deliver the presidency and the governor to Mr Odinga and president Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, he protested against UDA for disrespecting other aspirants in the race for parliamentary seats in the county after he gave direct tickets to MPs Gabriel Tongoyo (Narok West) and Korei Lemein (Narok South) without giving them a chance to square it in Nominations.
“We will not agree with UDA Leader and deputy president William Ruto for hand picking the candidate for governor and MPs in the county, that is disrespecting us and shows the lack of democracy in the party,” said Mr Kudate.
Mr Mositet who is the Jubilee Deputy party leader during the defection ceremony at Mara Frontier Hotel thanked them for the decision and called on Narok residents to elect them.
He hit Ruto for interfering with Narok politics by trying to impose some leaders on them by giving them direct tickets without considering the electorate and other aspirants.
“if Your really have the people of Narok in heart why do you stage-manage their election, why don’t you give people of Narok a voice by accepting them to go to nominations,” said Mr Mositet.
Mr Kenta echoed the same sentiments hitting at Narok West MP for betraying Narok people by accepting the ploy by the deputy president to compel them to step down for former CAS Patrick ole Ntutu.
“We will not accept the DP to go hatch leaders for Narok in his Karen residents, that is the luck of democracy, and those who stepped down they did so before coming and speaking to Narok residents on the way to go,” said Mr Kenta.
He said they will stand by president Kenyatta and Odinga and make sure they have delivered the Maasai vote to the Azimio Movement.
