Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome participated in the Judiciary Management Working Retreat, under the leadership of the new Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Hon. Winfridah Mokaya.
The retreat aimed at reviewing the judiciary’s plans, policies, and strategies to improve access to justice for all, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable groups in society.
The Judiciary is evaluating its systems and structures for the management of human resources, finances, and other essential resources essential for optimizing its operations.
“We are assessing our systems and structures for managing human resources, finances and other essential resources necessary to optimize our operations,” CJ Koome wrote on X.
“Through collaboration with our stakeholders, we will pursue socially responsive objectives and provide avenues for interaction to facilitate access to justice,” added the CJ.
According to the CJ, improving the justice journey for Kenyans requires shunning corruption and adopting transparency and openness to empower people to access services and opportunities.
“We have embodied shared leadership in the pursuit of achieving our common goals as articulated in the Social Transformation through Access to Justice (STAJ) blueprint,” CJ Koome said.
“We must bear in mind our Vision and Blueprint “Social Transformation through Access to Justice and champion reform initiatives and interventions to align all management priorities to STAJ,” the Chief Justice noted.
The retreat was intended to give the Management Team, comprising of Registrars, Directors and Heads of administrative functions, a deeper understanding of the philosophical underpinnings of the STAJ Blueprint and a clear roadmap on how to lead, advocate and disseminate its implementation.
The Judiciary should remain committed to improving efficiency, enhancing access to justice, promoting fairness and upholding the rule of law.
