Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts on 23rd July 2025,  where he faced charges of staging his own abduction in an alleged attempt to obstruct justice.

At Milimani Law Courts, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), represented by the Prosecution Counsel Victor Owiti and Nora Achieng, informed the court that Koimburi orchestrated a fake abduction which is reportedly aimed to prevent his appearance at the Kiambu Law Courts.

“The court heard that Koimburi conspired to defeat justice in Mugutha area, Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County, on 25th May 2025,” stated the ODPP.

The prosecution further stated that on June 7, 2025, while receiving treatment at Karen Hospital, the MP issued a video statement on YouTube, claiming that he had been abducted and tortured by  criminals.

Investigations later revealed that the claims were false and allegedly intended to cause public alarm and evade legal accountability.

However, in his defense the legislator denied all charges.

“Koimburi pleaded not guilty before Senior Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi,” added the prosecution.

The court granted the MP a cash bail of Ksh. 300,000 and ordered that he provide three contact persons as sureties.

The matter is scheduled for mention on August 5, 2025, when the court will issue further directions on the case.
