Hon. Justice David Majanja has been sworn in as a Member of the Judicial Service Commission for a second 5-year term.
During the oath administration, Hon. Majanja pledged to diligently continue serving the people of Kenya as a representative of the Kenya Magistrates & Judges Association.
The oath was administered by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Hon. Winfridah Mokaya & presided over by the Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome.
According to a gazette notice by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Hon. Mokaya, Justice David Majanja was re-elected as a Member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on 25th May 2024.
“It is notified for information of the general public that pursuant to Article 171(20 (d) and (4) of the constitution of Kenya, Hon. Justice David Amiclar Shikomera Majanja has been elected as a member of the Judicial Service Commission, for a period of five (5) years, with effect from the 25th May 2024,” read the Chief Registrar’s notice.
Chief Justice Martha Koome applauded Hon. Majanja’s re-election as the representative of the High Court for another five-year term stating him as a pillar in JSC.
“He has been a pivotal pillar in the JSC’s collective pursuit of the imperatives of securing the independence and accountability of the Judiciary as envisaged in Article 172 of the Constitution,” Stated CJ Koome.
“We are glad that Justice Majanja will continue working with us in the quest to realise the JSC’s mandate of facilitating the realization of the right to “access to justice” enshrined in Article 48 of the Constitution, which is the overarching mission of the Judiciary,” noted the Chief Justice.
The Chief Justice further indicated that Hon. Majanja’s voice will impact the judiciary actions in alignment with the objectives identified in JSC’s Strategic plan.
“His voice, perspectives and insights will continue to greatly enrich our actions in pursuit of the strategic objectives identified in the JSC’s Strategic Plan, including the overall objective of putting in place a people-centred justice system in Kenya,” reiterated CJ Koome.
Judge Majanja was first elected to the JSC on 14th May 2019 for a five-year term.
Prior to his re-election, Justice Majanja served as the Chairperson of the Human Resource Management Committee, a member of the Audit, Governance & Risk Management Committee and Learning & Development Committee.
