The Judicial Service Commission has Shortlisted 41 candidates for the position of judge of the Court of Appeal with Honourable Justice Nzioka and former IEBC Chair making the list.
“The JSC having reviewed the application for completeness and conformity with the requirements as set out in the advertisement, shortlisted 41 candidates,” read the notice in part.
Justice Grace Nzioka who has been serving as a judge at the High Court in Naivasha recently came to the limelight after delivering her land mark verdict, the death sentence in the trial for the murder of the late business woman Monicah Nyawira Kimani by Jowie Irungu.

Hon Justice Nzioka was shortlisted alongside Former IEBC chairperson Isaack Hassan who srved as the Chairperson of the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from November 2011 to October 6, 2016.
His predecessor Wafula Chebukati who took over the reigns in 2017 was among the 82 applicants however, he did not make the cut.
The JSC will be conducting interviews for the shortlisted candidates from 3rd to 20th June 2024 at CBK Pension Towers, 13th Floor, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.
The complete list of shortlisted candidates as well as their specific dates and time for the interview is available at the JSC website.
Other shortlisted candidates include justices Chacha Mwita, Athony Murima, Hon Justice Makau Onesmus, among others.
Chief Justice Martha Koome has invited members of the public to avail in writing any information of interest regarding the shortlisted candidates by 13th May, 2024, 5:00 p.m.
