Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction of Bukhungu stadium which is in Phase 2.
The Senator said he will support Governor Fernandes Barasa to complete the Stadium which is one of the flagship projects of the county government.
“We have come to build synergy and partnership that will enable us to complete this flagship project in the shortest time possible and at the lowest price possible. I am pleased that Phase 1 is complete and phase 2 is ongoing,” he noted.
Governor Barasa said the construction of the stadium is being done in three phases.
He said phase 1 which consumed Sh475 million was completed and handed over to the county government in 2017.
“As we speak now, we are in progress in Phase 2 where we have already done 47 per cent. Our target is to complete the stadium by 2024,” he said.
He noted that the stadium is big and once complete will attract teams across the country and others from the international scene.
“Once complete the stadium is going to be a source of revenue for our people and is also going to provide infrastructure to nurture talent among our youthful population which is one of the objectives of this government,” he added.
