Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stressed the need to heed the voices of the youth.

Speaking on Tuesday during the signing of the IEBC (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Musyoka highlighted the increasing influence of Generation Z.

Musyoka underscored the necessity for current leadership to recognize and adapt to the aspirations of younger generations.

“If we are not careful, all of us will get thrown out by Gen Z because they say we have come of age, you say that we are leaders of tomorrow, we are leaders now,” he said.

He pointed out that the country is at a crossroads, calling for renewed dialogue to address the issues facing Kenyans.

He also added that recent youth protests, led by Generation Z, have revealed many critical challenges still affecting the citizens.

“They came in the form of Gen Z but they are Kenyans, in fact, they are carrying the national flags, they have done it better than we did,” Musyoka stated.

He urged President William Ruto to take a fresh look at the country’s situation, emphasizing the inevitability of the Gen Z revolution.

“Mr President I want to urge that we look at our country afresh, there is no way we can wish away the Gen Z revolution and if we were to begin to be honest with ourselves perhaps we need to go back to Bomas,” Musyoka added.

On the same day, President Ruto signed the IEBC (Amendment) Bill into law. The bill aims to amend the structure and functions of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The event was attended by notable leaders including Azimio leader Raila Odinga and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, among others.

The presence of these leaders signifies the importance of the new legislation and the ongoing political dialogue in the country.
