Kanga High School Alumni Fete Best KCSE Performing Students

The Kanga High School alumni through their association – Kanga Old Boys Association (KOBA) has feted the school with gifts and donations in appreciation to the institution’s best performances exemplified during the past KCSE national examination results.
The former students were specifically prompted to throw a bash to the school on Friday following the exemplary 2021 KCSE examination results that put the institution number 23 in the whole country, while topping in Migori County. The school also managed to send a total of 374 students directly to universities out of 409 candidates, with 24 of them scoring straight As.
The outstanding performances in the 2021 KCSE national examinations saw them beat top Nyanza schools like Maseno and Maranda in the history of the national examinations.
Through their vice chairman Mr. Milton Okunye, the association said that as the old boys of the institution, it was a glorifying moment for the school as it managed to produce for the first time over twenty students with straight A grades in the school’s history.
Mr Okunya revealed that the school aims to have at least 50 students scoring straight A grades, acknowledging that the little efforts of recognizing those who have excelled will propel others to do even better.
Apart from concentrating on the students who have excelled in national examinations, the alumni is also concerned about the infrastructural part of the school and has embraced a mandate to ensure the environment is conducive for learning processes.
To achieve this, KOBA has in the past years been constructing a storey dormitory, a project that is already in the first floor, while also working on a water project to ensure there is enough water running throughout the school’s taps.
Furthermore, Mr. Kunya explained that they were also implementing KOBA bursaries towards supporting bright but needy students in the school and which ensures all the fees are paid for four years of the vulnerable students’ study.
Yesterday, during the appreciation of better results to students, the association gifted the 2019, 2020 and 2021 top performers with a total of 20 laptops and 10 smartphones to assist them in their university studies.
The inclusion of the 2019 and 2020 in the Friday celebrations was due to the fact that Covid 19 outbreak could not allow the association to fete students during the years, explained Mr. Okunye.
The Chief Principal Kanga High School Mr Reuben Kodiango while speaking during the occasion said that the input by the KOBA team has seen the school improve drastically in performances.
The celebration for Kanga School top achievers is a yearly event which has always been aided by the KOBA and was only disrupted by the outbreak of Covid 19 for the last two years, he noted.
The Principal however noted that it is not just a matter of celebrating the A straight students only but also it is through the good grades that the students will get better courses at the universities, and that is the schools main aim.
Mr Kodiango however amused that when he joined the school in January 2021, the KOBA team were very much interested in knowing him and thus through the better results seen, he has a better introduction of himself
The principal stated that he was poised to make Kanga school the best school in the region and beyond through better performance that are to come in the successive years and even beat the current top school Kapsabet Boys.
