The request by Kenya Commercial Bank of Kenya to have its branches shut down to Central Bank of Kenya was yesterday granted.
The bank had announced on Monday it will temporarily shut down all its branches in the country and across the region over the weekend for a major systems upgrade.
“To facilitate this transition, all KCB branches across the 6 markets we operate in (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and Burundi) will be closed for business from Friday August 12, 2016 at 3:00pm to Sunday August 14, 2016 at midnight,” said KCB in a statement.
The bank stated that its customers will still be able to make cash withdrawals and deposits at ATMs and also access its other services and through its mobile channels.
The statement in full by KCB group was as follows.
“Dear Customer, to provide you a better banking experience, we will be upgrading our banking system.
Our branches will therefore be closed from: Friday 12th August 2016 at 3:00pm to Sunday 14th August 2016 at Midnight
The following channels and services will be available during this period:
- Services on ATM and Mobile banking *522# and App: – Balance enquiries – Transfer from KCB account to account – Transfer from KCB to M-PESA – Cash Withdrawals (ATM)
- Point of Sale (POS) Payments available
- KCB M-PESA – Balance enquiries – Transfers from M-PESA to Bank and Bank to M-PESA
Normal services will resume on Monday, 15th of August 2016 at 8:00am.
